Help and answers

Frequently asked questions

Arranging care can raise lots of questions. Here are clear answers to the ones families ask us most. If you cannot find what you need, our team is happy to help.

Getting started

  • Simply call us on 01322 586755 or send an enquiry through our website. We will talk through what you need, arrange a care assessment at home and then agree a personalised care plan with you before care begins.

  • A member of our team visits you at home to learn about your daily routines, the support you would like, your preferences and anything that helps keep you safe. Family members are welcome to join. It is a relaxed conversation, not a test.

  • Please call us and we will explain how our assessment works and answer any questions before you decide anything.

  • It depends on the support you need and our availability in your area. Call us and we will give you an honest answer straight away.

  • Yes. Many enquiries come from family members. We will always involve your relative in decisions about their care and respect their wishes. If someone else holds a Lasting Power of Attorney, we will work with them too.

Your care

  • We provide care at home for adults, including personal care, visiting care, dementia care, live-in care, companionship and help around the home, palliative care and disability support. Every plan is built around the person.

  • We aim to build a small, consistent team of carers around you, so you see familiar faces and your carers get to know your routines and preferences.

  • Yes. We review care plans regularly and you can ask for a change at any time. If your needs increase or decrease, we will adjust your support with you.

  • Our office team arranges cover from another trained carer and keeps you informed. If a visit is going to be late, we aim to let you know as soon as possible.

Costs and funding

  • The cost depends on how much support you need, how long each visit lasts and when visits take place. After your assessment, we give you a clear, personalised quote. You can read more on our Costs and Funding page.

  • Visit lengths are agreed with you as part of your care plan. Our team will explain the options when you call.

  • We can talk you through the options available to you. Please call us to discuss your situation and how your care could be funded.

  • We explain our terms clearly before any care begins, including how to change or end your care, so you can decide with confidence.

Our carers

  • Yes. We recruit carefully, including references and background checks, and every carer completes induction training before working alone, followed by ongoing training and supervision.

  • Our carers wear a Smartlinks Care uniform and carry identification, so you always know who is visiting.

  • Please tell us your preference during your assessment and we will do our best to meet it.

Safety and quality

  • Yes. Smartlinks Care Services UK Ltd is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England, to provide personal care in people's homes.

  • We always want to hear from you. You can speak to our office team, call us on 01322 586755 or visit our Compliments and Complaints page to find out how we handle feedback.

  • Existing clients and families can reach our on-call team outside office hours. The number is given in your care information pack. In an emergency, always call 999.
